Rep. Robert Dawson Participates in National Nonpartisan Conference on Election Administration and Democratic Governance

ATLANTA - State Representative Robert Dawson (D-Atlanta) recently participated in Pathways to Primary Election Reform: Legislative and Legal Strategies for a Stronger Democracy. This national conference is hosted by the USC Schwarzenegger Institute and the Unite America Institute in partnership with the University of Southern California's Price School of Public Policy, Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and USC Libraries.

"Opportunities to learn from experts and engage with leaders from different disciplines and viewpoints are invaluable to effective public service," said Rep. Dawson. "This conference provided a thoughtful, nonpartisan environment for examining election administration, governance and public policy issues that affect communities across the country."

The nonpartisan conference brought together a diverse group of scholars, legal experts, policymakers, researchers, civic leaders and public servants from across the country to examine legislative and legal approaches to election administration, governance and democratic institutions. Participants engaged in discussions focused on research, public policy, election law and the role of institutions in supporting effective representative government.

During the conference, Rep. Dawson explored how legislative and legal frameworks influence election systems and governance. The conference featured presentations, panel discussions and collaborative sessions designed to encourage the exchange of ideas across a broad range of professional backgrounds.

Rep. Dawson emphasizes that organizers described the conference as an effort to strengthen dialogue among researchers, practitioners, educators, policymakers and civic organizations committed to evidence-based approaches to governance and democratic institutions. He adds that the event encouraged continued collaboration through future research, educational initiatives and public policy discussions.

Following the conference, participants were invited to remain engaged through ongoing research networks, educational partnerships and professional collaborations focused on election law, governance, public policy and civic engagement.

Rep. Dawson highlights that his participation reflects his commitment to professional development and to learning from a wide range of experts and perspectives in order to better serve the citizens of House District 65 and the State of Georgia.

Representative Robert Dawson represents the citizens of District 65, which includes portions of Coweta and Fulton counties. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves on the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Information and Audits and Intragovernmental Coordination committees.
