Award-winning excellence: BESIX Watpac receives state recognition at Queensland Awards night

BESIX Watpac has been recognised at the Master Builders Queensland State Awards, taking home top honours for two projects:
- James Cook University Engineering and Innovation Place won the award for Education Facilities over $10M
- Gold Coast University Hospital Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (SMHRU) won the award for Health Facilities over $20M
Both projects had previously won at their respective regional awards earlier this year, with JCU EIP also named Project of the Year at the North Queensland awards.
Located in Townsville, JCU EIP is a world-class STEM facility that brings together engineering, IT, and research disciplines into one collaborative environment. The four-storey building is architecturally remarkable, with almost every aspect bespoke - and showcases the excellence of the North Queensland team. Delivered in close alignment with the architect's vision, the project has earned multiple industry accolades, including being named in the Prix Versailles list of the world's most beautiful campuses.
SMHRU is the first facility of its kind on the Gold Coast, designed to provide specialised care in a secure environment. Delivered within an operational hospital campus, the project involved close collaboration with the client and design team to optimise efficiency and reduce costs. The project gave a start to over 100 apprentices, setting them up for a strong future in the construction industry.
BESIX Watpac is proud to be recognised for these transformative projects and looks forward to the upcoming national awards.
