State Police investigate pedestrian struck by a vehicle in LeRay

On October 24, 2024, at about 8:45 p.m., State Police in Watertown responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on State Route 342 in the Town of LeRay.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Chevrolet HHR operated by Robert C. Brierton, age 63, from Calcium, NY, was traveling west on State Route 342 and struck a 16-year-old pedestrian lying in the roadway, later identified as Cameron M. Gianconna, from Evans Mills, NY.

Gianconna was pronounced deceased on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

State Police were assisted on scene by Calcium Fire Department, Black River Fire Department, and Fort Drum EMS.
