Early Action is a nonbinding option that allows students to apply by November 1 and receive an earlier admission decision, while still retaining the flexibility to compare offers. The addition of Early Action is designed to provide students and families with more time, clarity, and flexibility in the college decision-making process.
With this addition, Occidental now offers three application rounds for first-year applicants:
All application plans receive the same individualized, holistic review process. Each student's academic preparation, intellectual curiosity, experiences, and potential contributions to the Occidental community are considered thoughtfully and in context.
Occidental is also committed to making a college education accessible. Students applying through any round are considered for need-based financial aid and merit scholarships, and the College meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. In recognition of the commitment made by students who apply Early Decision, those admitted through Early Decision will continue to receive the Occidental Commitment Scholarship.
We invite prospective students to explore the Application Deadlines webpage to learn more, and we encourage anyone with questions to connect with the Office of Admission at [email protected] or (323) 259-2700.
