Fedorchak helps advance “One Big Beautiful Bill” out of Energy and Commerce Committee

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) and fellow House Energy and Commerce Republicans today advanced their part of the One Big Beautiful Billthat will help usher in a new era of American energy dominance, roll back burdensome regulations, and strengthen Medicaid for the people it was designed to serve.

"After 26 hours of debate, E&C Republicans just took a major step toward getting our fiscal house in order," Fedorchak said. "This landmark package will help restore Medicaid to its original mission-supporting seniors, people with disabilities, and pregnant women-while cracking down on waste, fraud, and abuse. It reins in crushing regulations, ends Biden's costly EV mandates, and puts a stop to Green New Deal-style slush funds. Importantly, our legislation gives America's energy producers the tools they need to compete, grow, and make our nation energy dominant once again. This is a win for taxpayers, working families, and the people who power our economy."

In her opening statement, Fedorchak blasted Congressional Democrats for their intentionally misleading claims about the Republican plan to strengthen and sustain the Medicaid program. She noted that able-bodied adults in Medicaid expansion can receive up to nine times more federal funding than individuals living with disabilities in the traditional program. It is not fair for the federal government to spend more on those who can work-but choose not to-than on those living with a disability. Fedorchak also highlighted that according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, 1.4 million illegal immigrants currently receive Medicaid benefits, diverting resources from the people the program was designed to serve. During consideration of the Health Subtitle, Fedorchak called out the Democrats for falsely alleging the bill would reduce Medicaid benefits for women. She spoke in support of a key provision that prevents taxpayer dollars from funding Big Abortion providers, "an act that is morally objectionable to a large number of American taxpayers." Watch:

During consideration of the Environment Subtitle, Fedorchak touted the commonsense North Dakota model that helps the state maintain some of the lowest cost utility bills in the country. She laid out why the Democrats' proposal to subsidizeintermittent energy sources using taxpayer dollars, instead of embracing an all-of-the-above energy approach, increases costs and jeopardizes grid reliability.
