U.S. Senator Katie Britt Joins National Report on Newsmax to Discuss Latest on Iran

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) this morning joined National Report on Newsmax to discuss President Trump's latest actions against Iran as he continues working to keep Americans safe and secure.

On President Trump's latest posture on the military conflict:

"Look, President Trump means business, and I hope the Iranians are paying attention because I have no doubt that he will follow through … President Trump is the first President to have the courage to actually hold the Iranian regime accountable. This has been going on for 47 years, and for 47 years people have been dragging their feet. The thing we know about President Trump is once he puts his mind to something and says it, he's going to make sure that it happens. When you look at what we were up against with regards to the uranium enrichment, when you're looking at what they were doing with… investing in their military capabilities in a way that unfortunately made Americans less safe… President Trump said the time to act is now. So, if I were [Iran], I would pay attention because he means what he says, and I believe that he will follow through, and Americans will ultimately be safer and more secure as a result."

On standing up to nearly 50 years of Iranian terror and aggression:

"[Iran has] been chanting 'Death to America.' At what point do you not believe what they say? We know that they are literally the head of the snake. They are the largest state sponsor of terrorism, not just in the Middle East, across the globe. When we look at what is happening to American soldiers and looking what is happening to our allies, you can trace it back to money that's coming from Iran, whether it is Hezbollah, whether it is the Houthis, whether it is Hamas and it must end … President Trump is not going to look the other way … President Trump is actually asking them to come to the table. He said today they are dragging their feet, and he will tolerate it no more.

"Look, we are in an ideological space here where these people do not want to be our friends. They want to see harm come to Americans, they want death to our country, and we absolutely have to stand strong, stand beside President Trump and finish this. And let me say this: It is despicable that we have Democratic colleagues that are actually cheering for Iran … That is absurd. We should stand together, united as Americans against a force of evil, an actual evil in Iran … and stand with the Iranian people who need to be free from this regime."

On making sure our military is the best trained, equipped, and ready across the planet:

"Obviously, everyone wants to see us be successful, and we also look forward to making sure that all of our men and women are home and home safely … You have to invest to be able to do that. We want to make sure that our military is the best trained, equipped and ready across the planet. We have shown that when we did that under President Trump's leadership, you look at what we've been able to accomplish. You look at the operations that have already been successful and so we want to see this one end in that way as well. So I think we take a look at what the president needs from us. And it would be my hope that we can come together, not play politics, not Democrat or Republican, but be Americans united behind our men and women in uniform. Leaving them blind on the battlefield, leaving them without the resources they need, would be absolutely despicable, and I am hopeful that we can find a pathway forward."
