University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh alumna Kimberly Krejcarek of Green Bay spends time with radio TV film students, talking about her years at WLUK-TV and the broadcast industry.
Before they stepped onto the stage to accept their honors, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's 2025 award-winning alumni made sure to spend some time during Homecoming week connecting with students in classrooms.
Three UW-Oshkosh alumnae paid visits to campus classrooms Oct. 17-hours before they were celebrated with eight others for their success and impact. Below are the trio who visited students working toward degrees in the alumna's field of study.
Susan Asselin of Washington, D.C., fourth from left, returned to her alma mater at UW-Oshkosh and spent time speaking to students in a political science classroom.
Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient, Susan Asselin, who resides in Washington, D.C., graduated in 2014, with bachelor's degrees in international studies and in political science. She currently serves as program management and analyst with the Office of Strategic Partnerships and Intergovernmental Affairs. She was a member of the Model United Nations team through her college career and was 2nd vice president for two years, managing fundraising and recruitment/retention efforts. She distinguished herself in the Peace Corps for three years in Senegal, where she served as a community economic development volunteer as part of the Master's International Program, demonstrating leadership and cross-cultural adaptability. In addition, she was active in her community, securing tuition and supplies for 50+ middle schools and organized computer literacy classes for middle school teachers and high school students.
Nancy Korom '83, took time to speak to UW-Oshkosh nursing students about her career path that led to a nursing administration role and discuss the many options open to newly-graduated nurses.
Recipient of a UW-Oshkosh Distinguished Alumni Award, Nancy (Lien) Korom, of Wauwatosa, graduated from UWO in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She went on to earn a master's degree in nursing in 1993 from Marquette University. Korom serves as vice president and chief nursing officer at Children's Wisconsin, where she has been employed since graduating from UWO. Korom has responsibility for more than 2,000 nurses across the Children's Wisconsin system as well as responsibility for multiple areas including surgical services, family services and emergency department and trauma center. In addition to her professional achievements, Korom has made significant contributions to her community including public health initiatives of juvenile diabetes research and lung cancer prevention; and she serves on the advisory board for the UWO School of Nursing and Health Professions.
Kimberly Krejcarek, of Green Bay, a 2010 graduate of the radio TV film program, received a UW-Oshkosh Distinguished Alumni Award. Krejcarek has worked at WLUK-TV since graduation, beginning as a weekend news writer and video editor. She has since held numerous roles leading to her current position as special projects coordinator: events and longform, not only for WLUK but also their parent company Sinclair Broadcast Group. Previously, she developed community outreach programs as well as partnering and telling the stories of local non-profits and other entities. She is committed to giving back to her community and plays violin at more than a dozen assisted-living facilities. She remains committed to UWO's RTF program, speaking to current students and serving on panels discussing various career paths.
