City of begin Lake Avalon Park boulevard and bridge replacement

The City of Lewisville will begin construction on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, to replace the boardwalk and bridge at Lake Avalon Park. The project will replace the existing structures with a precast concrete system designed to provide a safe, accessible and durable connection for pedestrians and other park users.

The project includes demolition and reconstruction of the existing boardwalk and bridge, along with improvements to the island area. New amenities will include a concrete patio, benches and a guardrail, creating an improved space for park visitors once construction is complete.

Construction and Park Access
Construction will begin with contractor mobilization and demolition of the existing structures. Portions of Lake Avalon Park will be temporarily closed during construction to maintain a safe work area and protect park visitors.

Park users should follow all posted construction fencing and closure signage and avoid entering restricted areas while work is underway.

The new boardwalk and bridge components are currently being manufactured by PermaTrak, a manufacturer of precast concrete boardwalk systems. Once the components are delivered, crews will install the new structures and complete the remaining site improvements.

Construction is expected to take approximately 120 calendar days. The schedule does not include City holidays and is subject to change due to weather, site conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. The City will provide updates if significant changes to the construction schedule or park access are necessary.

Project Cost and Funding
Lewisville City Council approved the construction contract with Fain Group LLC on May 4, 2026, for $866,165. A subsequent change order of $38,926.25 was approved to add the concrete patio, benches and guardrail to the island area, bringing the total construction cost to
$905,091.25.

The project is funded through the City's Parks Capital Improvement Program.

Once complete, the new boardwalk and bridge will restore public access across this area of Lake Avalon Park while providing a more durable structure designed for long-term public use. Construction updates and information about park access will be shared through City of Lewisville and Play Lewisville communication channels as the project progresses.
