City of Miami Eco Block Party Kicks Off Miami Climate Week
Published on March 13, 2026
Join Mayor Eileen Higgins and District 2 Commissioner Damian Pardo to kick off Miami Climate Week on Sunday, March 15. Come hear new announcements related to resilience in the City, including plastic-free efforts, extreme heat, flooding, composting, Biscayne Bay health, and permitting. Stay for music and fellowship. The program will be moderated by Chief Resilience Officer Sonia Brubaker. The event will be held, rain or shine!
Miami Climate Week is a series of events that connect residents and sustainability stakeholders to inspire local resilience action. Events will be hosted countywide March 14-21, 2026.
"Miami is on the front lines of climate change, and we are not waiting for the next storm or the next heat wave to act," said Mayor Eileen Higgins. "Miami Climate Week is a chance to bring people together, share real progress, and keep raising the bar on what a resilient city looks like. I hope residents will come out to celebrate, connect, and hear what we are rolling out next to protect our neighborhoods, our waters, and our quality of life."
"Climate resilience is not something government can solve alone. It requires the creativity, participation, and commitment of the entire community," said Commissioner Damian Pardo. "The Eco Block Party is an opportunity for residents to connect with the people and organizations working every day to make Miami more resilient, while also learning practical steps they can take in their own homes and neighborhoods. When residents, experts, and community leaders come together, we build a stronger, cooler, and more sustainable Miami for the future."
"Miami Worldcenter was envisioned as a place where the community can come together, and we're proud to host the Eco Block Party as part of Miami Climate Week," said Matthew Falcone, Chief Operations Officer and Managing Principal at NDM Hospitality. "Events like this help bring residents, businesses, and sustainability leaders together to inspire action and strengthen Miami's future."
"Climate action in Miami is not theoretical. It is measurable, it is local, and it is happening in real time," said David Duckenfield, Executive Director of Miami Climate 365. "From neighborhood organizations to research institutions, leaders across Miami-Dade are working block by block to strengthen communities and advance practical solutions. We're excited that the City of Miami's Eco Block Party will kick off Miami Climate Week's community-led events with a celebration showcasing many of these solutions."
