Tallahassee State College (TSC) has launched Ava, an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant designed to help students quickly access information, complete common tasks, and connect with College resources anytime, day or night.
Available through Student Central, the College's centralized student support hub, Ava helps students quickly access assistance by chat or phone. The virtual assistant provides support for topics such as admissions, financial aid, registration, transcripts, student records, account information, and other common student service needs. Ava also helps students get answers outside of normal business hours, complete routine tasks at their convenience, and connect with staff when additional assistance is needed, all while maintaining privacy and security standards.
"Ava represents another step forward in our commitment to student success and innovation," said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, President of TSC. "Today's students expect convenient, personalized support. By leveraging artificial intelligence responsibly, we are expanding access to information and services while helping students get the answers they need when they need them."
For Student Central, Ava adds another layer of support for students while helping staff manage routine questions more efficiently.
"Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for students to get the support they need," said Dr. Sheri Rowland, Vice President for Student Affairs. "Ava gives students faster access to support while helping Student Central manage routine questions more efficiently. Most importantly, students will still have access to a live team member when their needs require additional assistance."
The launch of Ava reflects TSC's broader commitment to exploring innovative technologies that enhance student services, improve operational efficiency, and support educational excellence.
"Ava is the result of strong collaboration between Information Technology and Student Affairs, with a shared focus on improving the student experience," said Jason Fowler, Vice President for Information Technology. "By using AI-powered automation in a thoughtful way, we can help students get answers faster while giving our staff more capacity to support complex needs."
Students can learn more about Ava and begin using the virtual assistant by visiting Student Central at studentcentral.tsc.fl.edu or calling (850) 201-4444.
