On April 21st, the Mission of China to the African Union and the African Union Commission (AUC) successfully held the first China-Africa Entrepreneurs Summit at the African Union Headquarters. Ambassador JIANG Feng from the Mission, H.E. Taye Atske Selassie, President of Ethiopia, and AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf delivered opening remarks and unveiled the plaque of the China-Africa Entrepreneurs Partnership Alliance. Officials from diplomatic missions, the AUC, the Ethiopian government, as well as representatives from Chinese and African business communities, totaling over 700, attended the Summit. Minister Counsellor Lyu Ruihao presided over the opening ceremony.
Ambassador JIANG Feng stated that the forum aims to establish a high-quality platform for China-Africa policy and resource coordination, a practical measure demonstrating China's commitment to high-level opening-up and an inclusive global economy. He called on African governments and entrepreneurs on both sides to fully leverage the zero-tariff policy and various economic and trade exchange platforms, including the CIIE, to jointly create new opportunities for enhancing the integration of China-Africa industrial and supply chains as well as deepening cooperation among the business communities.
President Taye and Chairperson Youssouf both acknowledged the significance of the forum, and spoke of China as a sincere and reliable friend to Africa. They recognized that the main forum's theme aligns with the shared vision for China-Africa development, and the five sub-forums underpin the complementarity of the respective advantageous on both sides. They also expressed the hope that the forum would inject new momentum into China-Africa practical cooperation.
