ALBANY, NY - Mayor Kathy Sheehan directed to the reactivation of SeeClickFix on Thursday, January 2 after the City Clerk's filing of Local Law M of 2024 with the New York State Secretary of State.
SeeClickFix is an internet-based system designed to make it easier for residents and visitors to report non-emergency issues like potholes, code violations, and illegally-dumped garbage so the City can address them effectively and efficiently.
Thanks to the leadership of Council Majority Leader and 13th Ward Councilmember Ginnie Farrell and 14th Ward Councilmember Deborah Zamer, the Common Council held an emergency meeting on Monday, December 23, 2024, to consider and pass Local Law M of 2024 - legislation that amended the City's "prior written notice" law so that SeeClickFix could be reactivated without exposing the City's taxpayers to potentially millions of dollars in financial liability. Mayor Sheehan held a mayoral public hearing on Monday, December 30, 2024, and immediately signed the legislation into law.
Non-emergency issues can be reported to SeeClickFix by visiting https://seeclickfix.com/albany_2/report. Residents and visitors are reminded that SeeClickFix is only monitored during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30am through 5:00pm, and questions regarding SeeClickFix can be directed to the City of Albany Department of Neighborhood and Community Services by calling (518) 434-CITY (2489) or by visiting https://albanyny.gov/2152/Neighborhood-and-Community-Services.
All emergency matters should be reported by calling 911. The Albany Police & Fire Departments Dispatch Unit can be reached by calling (518) 438-4000. Water main breaks and other water-related emergencies should be reported to the Albany Water Department by calling (518) 434-5322.
Mayor Kathy Sheehan said, "I commend Council Majority Leader Farrell and Councilmember Zamer for their quick action and leadership to implement the legislative change that allows the City to protect our taxpayers and reactivate SeeClickFix. As I said only two weeks ago this temporary deactivation of SeeClickFix was never about the City's commitment to addressing issues - it's about protecting our residents from the devastating financial impact of a tsunami of lawsuits. That is why we worked closely with Council leaders to amend the City Code so that we can turn SeeClickFix back on without exposing our residents to further liability. I encourage all residents and visitors alike to continue utilizing SeeClickFix to report non-emergency issues like potholes, code violations, and illegally-dumped garbage so that the dedicated public servants across the City of Albany are made aware of these issues and can rectify them as soon as possible."
