"The Warning," a body of work by Visual Arts Studies (VAST) student, Talon McKendree, will be on display April 30 through May 7 in the McLanahan Gallery of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. A reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, in the Center's Titelman Study. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
ALTOONA, Pa. - "The Warning," a body of work by Visual Arts Studies (VAST) student, Talon McKendree, will be on display April 30 through May 7 in the McLanahan Gallery of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. A reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, in the Center's Titelman Study. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
McKendree is a visual artist, filmmaker,and musician. He is a 2000 graduate of Altoona Area High School and is a sixth-year senior at Penn State Altoona. He is involved in the ice hockey club team and the motorsports club at Penn State Altoona. He completed a degree in communications in May 2024 and intends to complete a second degree in visual art studies in May of this year. He has been featured in the student group exhibition "Work Out" and he has been featured in "Hard Freight," Penn State Altoona's literary arts magazine.
McKendree explores the dangers of advanced technologies, such as social media and artificial intelligence through visual metaphors and bright colors. He states, "Through the use of mediums such as acrylic painting and stop-motion animation, I show my way of seeing the world under the context of social media consumption, artificial intelligence and how the human mind is affected by them."
