Construction Advisory: Upcoming Road Closures for Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Project

Significant progress is being made on the Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Project! Residents can expect the following construction activities and road closures to occur next week, Monday to Friday, April 7-11, 2025.

Monday Road Closure (04/07/25) - Crosswalk and Pedestrian Ramp Construction:

On Monday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Rocklin Drive near Delaine Eastin School will be closed for construction. However, Union City Boulevard will remain open to traffic. The scheduled work includes demolishing and replacing the existing crosswalk. Residents and commuters should plan ahead and use the designated detour routes to avoid delays.

Monday to Friday Road Closures (04/07/25-04/11/25) - Paving Overlay Work:

From Monday through Friday, construction work will take place on Union City Boulevard from Dyer Street to Lowry/Eastin Drive. Intermittently, Union City Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction, but the roadway will remain open to traffic. The following cross streets will be closed when work occurs at each intersection:

  • Dyer Street
  • Rose Way
  • Bay Colony Way
  • Delores Drive
  • Rocklin Drive
  • Lowry/Eastin Drive

These closures will occur between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with only one cross street closed at a time to ensure residents can enter and exit their communities. The primary work during this period involves a paving overlay on Union City Boulevard.

While construction is underway, traffic delays and shifting travel lanes can be expected. The road will be shared by construction crews, pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. For everyone's safety, please remain vigilant, reduce your speed, and allow extra time for travel.

The City appreciates the community's patience and understanding throughout this project. The Union City Boulevard (UCB) Bike Lanes Project will reconstruct the median to accommodate new buffered bike lanes, a shared use pathway, streetlight and traffic signal improvements, upgraded striping and signage, upgraded pavement surface, installing new storm drain inlets, and new landscaping.
