After 21 years of service on the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) Board of Trustees, The Honorable Jack Quinn is stepping down leaving behind a legacy of distinguished service, leadership, and commitment to working families.
Jack has had an outstanding career, and brought more than 40 years of experience in higher education, public policy and government to his tenure on the board, including serving the community of Buffalo and the surrounding suburbs for over 12 years as a United States Congressman for the 27th Congressional District. He is currently the Senior Advisor for Public & Community Relations for Barclay Damon, and was President of Erie Community College, where he presided over three campuses of approximately 16,000 students and 2,000 employees.
"Jack's leadership has left a lasting impact on the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust, our partners, and the countless workers and families who have benefited from the projects and initiatives he helped guide," said HIT CEO Chang Suh. "His commitment to collaboration, public service, and the labor movement has earned the respect and admiration of all who have had the privilege of working alongside him."
Since publicly sharing his Parkinson's diagnosis in 2019, Jack has dedicated himself to advocacy, serving on the Michael J. Fox Foundation board, supporting research funding, raising awareness, and promoting access to therapeutic programs such as boxing for Parkinson's patients.
Throughout his tenure, Jack has brought exceptional wisdom, integrity, and vision to the Board. His thoughtful counsel and steadfast dedication have helped advance the HIT's mission of creating quality union jobs while investing in affordable and workforce housing that strengthens communities across the country.
While we will miss Jack's invaluable contributions and trusted voice on the Board, he will also be remembered for the relationships he built, the respect he earned, and the positive spirit he brought to his work with fellow Trustees and staff. We are deeply grateful for his years of service and the legacy he leaves behind.
