City Teams Up with Red Cross to Boost Home Fire Safety

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (July 9, 2025) - The City and the New Brunswick Fire Department are partnering with the American Red Cross to help families prepare for and take important steps to prevent home fires, aiming to reduce the number of home fire-related injuries and fatalities.

On July 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Red Cross volunteers, along with the New Brunswick Fire Department, will go door-to-door in neighborhoods to offer free smoke alarm installations in homes that need them.

Volunteers will also distribute fire safety information and speak with families about what they can do now to prepare for a potential fire in their home. All volunteers will be wearing identification tags while canvassing. Please feel free to request to see ID.
