MCI ranks 4th in J.D Power study

Kansas City International Airport ranked number four in overall customer satisfaction among North American airports in the Large Airport category in a study surveying thousands of travelers. MCI garnered 691 out of a 1,000 in the J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study, eight points higher than in 2024.

"This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team and the strong support of our community," said Aviation Director Melissa Cooper. "Travelers love the airport's spacious design and modern feel. This top ranking shows Kansas City is delivering the world-class experience our community deserves."

The J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study measures overall traveler satisfaction with mega, large and medium North American airports by examining six factors (in order of importance): terminal facilities; airport arrival/departure; baggage claim; security check; check-in/baggage check; and food, beverage and retail. Mega airports are defined as those with 33 million or more passengers per year; large airports with 10 to 32.9 million passengers per year; and medium airports with 4.5 to 9.9 million passengers per year. MCI welcomed a record 12.1 million passengers in 2024.

The 2025 study is based on 30,439 completed surveys from U.S. or Canadian residents who traveled through at least one U.S. or Canadian airport and covers both departure and arrival experiences (including connecting airports) during the past 30 days. Passengers evaluated either a departing or arriving airport from their round-trip experience. The study was fielded from July 2024 through July 2025.
