DENVER - Today, Governor Polis joined members of the Colorado National Guard and the Swiss Armed Forces for a proclamation ceremony reinforcing this important partnership. The Swiss Confederation and Colorado National Guard became official state partners under the National Guard State Partnership Program in September 2025.
"This anniversary marks one strong year of friendship and collaboration between the State of Colorado and Switzerland. Our National Guard members play such an important role in protecting our state at home and supporting our partners abroad. I'm excited by our partnership which strengthens international cooperation between Switzerland and Colorado and makes us all safer," said Governor Polis.
The Swiss Federation and the United States already have a long-standing relationship characterized by cooperation and shared values. Switzerland and Colorado have geographic and demographic similarities as well as cultural, economic, technological and historical bonds. Both states lie at the heart of their continents and hold important freshwater reserves and other resources needed for their populations and surrounding states. Additionally, both Switzerland and Colorado are centers for technology, trade, defense and finance.
