City of Indio Opens Senior Center as Cooling Center Amid Rising Temperatures

Indio, CA (March 19, 2026) - In response to increasing temperatures across the City of Indio and the greater Coachella Valley, the City of Indio will open the Indio Senior Center as a cooling center beginning tomorrow, March 20, 2026, to provide relief for residents. The City encourages seniors to take advantage of this resource to stay safe and cool during periods of extreme heat.

The Indio Senior Center, located at 45700 Aladdin St., will be open to adults 50 years and older, and membership is not required to access the facility during this time. Visitors will have access to air-conditioned space, as well as complimentary water, crackers, and other light snacks.

Indio Senior Center Cooling Center Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

For residents under 50 years of age, the Molina Healthcare One-Stop Help Center is also available as a cooling center:

  • Location: 81735 Highway 111
  • Hours: Monday - Friday
    • 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    • (Closed 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. for lunch)
    • 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
