Police Arrest Gaithersburg High School Student with a Loaded Handgun

The Gaithersburg Police Department arrested a 15-year-old of Gaithersburg, MD for possession of a loaded privately manufactured handgun on the campus of Gaithersburg High School.

On Thursday, May 8, 2025, at approximately 1:11 p.m., a Community Engagement Officer from the Gaithersburg Police Department was called to Gaithersburg High School located in the 100 block of Education Boulevard for an investigation. During the course of the investigation, officers and school staff made contact with the 15-year-old, and officers conducted a search, and located a loaded handgun. Based on the information provided and the recovery of the handgun, officers arrested the 15-year-old.

The 15-year-old was transported to the Gaithersburg Police Department station where he wascharged with underage possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded handgun, possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, and possession of a firearm without a serial number.
