In their meeting on Thursday 15 January, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed support for Ukraine and the ongoing peace process.
The President and Ministerial Committee also discussed topical NATO issues and transatlantic relations.
In addition, the meeting included a discussion on the current situation concerning Greenland. Finland and its allies are discussing ways to strengthen security in the Arctic region.
The President and the Ministerial Committee received a briefing on the situation in Iran. Finland supports the Iranian people's right to express their opinions and assemble peaceably. Recent updates on casualties and detained individuals are highly alarming. The Iranian regime must immediately cease all violence against peaceful demonstrators.
