Pickett, Owlett Announce Grant to Support Children Recovering From Abuse

June 15, 2026

BRADFORD - Reps. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) are pleased to announce a grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) has recently been awarded to The Children's House in an effort to support victims of crime and prevent youth violence.

The Children's House in Towanda will receive $100,000 in funding to sustain children's advocacy center operations and standards. The center, which celebrates four decades of operation this year, aims to reduce trauma among children and families by bringing several services to one safe, comfortable space. Services offered at The Children's House include case coordination, forensic interviews, family advocacy, medical examinations, prevention/outreach and more.

"In some cases, The Children's House is the first place a child goes after experiencing the unimaginable. For some families, it is a space that finally makes them feel comfortable enough to ask for help," said Pickett. "A grant like this one goes beyond dollars and cents. It represents a commitment to making sure there is always a place available where children and families can go for healing and support."

"It hurts my heart to know there are children in our communities who are suffering abuse, often at the hands of someone who should be their greatest protector," Owlett said. "Child Advocacy Centers like The Children's House are vital to letting kids know there are people looking out for them and committed to helping them overcome the trauma they have experienced. This grant is an important investment in continuing that mission."

More than $21 million in state and federal grants were awarded by the PCCD with a goal of making communities safer, supporting victims of crime, reducing youth violence and substance use, and supporting individuals in county jails with life-saving treatment to overcome opioid and substance use disorders.
