Cathedral City residents in the Whispering Palms, South City, and Papaya and Pomegranate neighborhoods are invited to two upcoming community meetings about the Septic-to-Sewer Project, a joint effort between the City of Cathedral City and the Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) to connect homes currently on septic systems to a public sewer system.
Both meetings will cover the same information, so residents can attend whichever is more convenient.

City and CVWD staff will be on hand to answer questions, explain what the project could mean for these neighborhoods, and help residents complete the Property Owner Interest Survey.
Why resident response matters
The City and CVWD are pursuing grant funding to construct the public sewer system. The level of property owner interest may help determine how much grant funding is available - which makes resident participation the most important step at this stage.
Importantly, the project will only move forward if 100% of construction costs are funded through grants, at no cost to participating property owners. If funding is awarded, eligible properties may be connected to the public sewer system and existing septic systems would be abandoned.
The benefits of connecting to sewer
For homeowners weighing what a transition could mean, connecting to the public sewer system offers real, long-term advantages:
Your response is not a binding commitment
Completing the survey is non-binding. It acknowledges the information provided and indicates interest in participating. It does not obligate anyone to participate if the project moves forward.
Responses are due September 18, 2026.

Property owners in the project areas should have also received the survey by mail as the Property Owner Interest Acknowledgement Form - it's the same document. The mailed form can be returned by mail, email, or drop-off to:
