RE: Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of County Commissioner Mike Greenwell

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, Lee County Commissioner Mike Greenwell passed away at the age of 62. Commissioner Greenwell was a devoted public servant who was passionate about the well-being of his community. He was a lifelong resident of Lee County and local business owner, known for "Mike Greenwell's Bat-A-Ball Family Park." He was appointed by Governor DeSantis to the Board of County Commissioners in 2022 and subsequently reelected in 2024. Prior to his public service, Commissioner Greenwell was a professional baseball player for 12 years with the Boston Red Sox and was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2008. Our prayers are with his family, friends and community.

To honor the memory of Commissioner Mike Greenwell and his service to our state, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout Lee County from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
