January 27, 2026. Agents of the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency, in a joint operation with the Civil Guard and the National Police, have managed to dismantle a criminal group dedicated, allegedly, to the cultivation, harvesting, packaging of marijuana and its export, through parcel and road transport companies, whose end-use was Germany and Poland. The detainees are accused of crimes against public health, as well as belonging to a criminal group, money laundering, and electricity fraud.
The investigations began a year ago when the existence of the criminal organization became known, starting an operation focused on identifying the people who, using parcel or road transport companies, were making shipments of narcotic substances to northern Europe, of which the investigators had managed to seize up to 120 kilos of marijuana transported in different shipments.
As a result of the investigations, several individuals were located who, coinciding with the harvesting of the plantations, intensified the number of shipments. Two industrial buildings with no commercial activity were also located, but with an unusual movement of vehicles and vans.
In one of them, 84 kilos of marijuana were intercepted hidden in a shipment of peaches being transported by road in a truck towards Poland, and two people were arrested. Furthermore, in this warehouse the drug was vacuum-packed in order to avoid its characteristic smell and then transported in boxes of about ten kilos of the same substance.
Also, two single-family homes in Toledo were located where the marijuana plantations were cultivated, which were transported to the warehouses in rented vans.
Finally, the investigation culminated in a police operation that dismantled the criminal organization, arresting 13 more of its members, including the main leaders of the organization.
Likewise, eight house searches were carried out in the province of Toledo and Madrid where 26 kilos of packaged marijuana buds ready for shipment were seized, along with two marijuana plantations with more than 1,200 plants and more than 160,000 euros in cash, in addition to six vehicles seized, two of them with a false bottom made to carry out the transfer of the drugs to parcel companies safely.
After being brought before the court, the main defendants were ordered to be imprisoned.
