The Nampa Public Library Foundation invites artists to submit their qualifications for creating a mural in the Nampa Public Library's newly configured Teen Area on the second floor. This call is focused on qualifications and experience only; no design concepts are required at this stage. Submissions should include examples of previous work and projects that demonstrate their artistic style and capabilities.
The revamped Teen Area will feature a larger collection of materials, furniture, tables, and gaming TVs. The floor-to-ceiling mural will be applied directly onto the walls, with a strict installation budget not to exceed $9,400. Artists are encouraged to use creative liberty regarding the mural's placement, but the design must account for existing obstacles like windows and bookcases. The mural may cover one or both of the designated wall spaces, which are approximately 36 feet wide by 12 feet high and 41 feet wide. Coordination with library staff will be necessary for the installation process.
Finalists will receive input from local teens regarding their perceptions of the library and the Nampa community, which should inspire the mural's design. The artwork should be fun, age-appropriate for teenagers, and reflect the vibrancy of the Nampa community, incorporating bold colors and engaging elements to attract youth. Finalists will also be able to tour the site and engage with library staff to ask questions.
Interested artists should submit their applications by Friday, December 19, 2025. Application details are available electronically at nampalibrary.org/callforartists or in hard copy at the library's Borrower Services desk on the first floor.
Once the final design is chosen and approved by the Nampa Library Board, the artist may collaborate with staff to access the area and begin their work. The mural is expected to be completed and ready for display by March 2026.
The mural will be financed through the Nampa Public Library Foundation.
