Chair Hoyer Statement on Three-Year Anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Chair of the Regional Leadership Council, released the following statement today on the three-year anniversary of the enactment of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law:

"After four years of waiting for President Trump's 'Infrastructure Week,' President Biden led 265 Democrats and 32 Republicans to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law three years ago today. That historic law kicked off an 'Infrastructure Decade' in America. It was the greatest investment in America's roads and bridges since President Dwight Eisenhower's Interstate Highway System.

"House Democrats and the Regional Leadership Council (RLC) continues to work with the Biden-Harris Administration to implement this law and ensure its investments reach every corner of America. Over 66,000 infrastructure projects and awards have been announced in thousands of communities across the country - from the new Frederick Douglass Tunnel here in Maryland to the expansion of the Port of Nome in Alaska. Repairs are underway on over 196,000 miles of roads and 11,400 bridges. More than 400 airports have received Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grants to expand terminals, and the Biden-Harris Administration has also announced funding to replace 367,000 lead water service lines to benefit nearly 1,000,000 people. Additionally, 8,900 school buses in over 1,300 communities will use cleaner fuel on American roads.

"I believe, as I did when I launched my Make It In America Agenda back in 2010, that American strength and prosperity is built upon American infrastructure. Every road repaired and bridge fixed means shorter and safer commutes for Americans. Every dollar invested into broadband expansion helps connect American workers and small businesses to new economic opportunities. Every lead pipe replaced means cleaner, healthier drinking water for our families. These projects have already started to strengthen the middle-class by lowering costs and creating jobs - and we're only three years into this new infrastructure decade. In the years ahead, Democrats and I will continue Investing in America so that everyone has the tools and opportunities they need to Make It In America."
