Update on the situation of citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the Middle East

In the context of the tense security situation in the Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuously monitoring developments through the Crisis Cell activated at central level and maintains ongoing coordination with the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions in the region.

State of Israel

In the State of Israel, out of the 17 citizens of the Republic of Moldova who had previously notified their intention to evacuate, two citizens, who also hold Romanian citizenship, will depart tomorrow from Tel Aviv to Taba on a bus provided by the Embassy of Romania. From Taba, they have purchased air tickets to continue their journey.

The other 15 citizens, contacted by the diplomatic mission, informed that at this stage they no longer request evacuation.

At this time, there are no active evacuation requests from citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

The airport remains closed, and voluntary evacuation by land through Egypt and Jordan is possible on one's own. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Tel Aviv continues to monitor the situation and remains in contact with citizens in the region.

State of Qatar

A total of eight individual evacuation requests have been registered from citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

At present, seven cases are pending, and one case is under review.

No requests for consular assistance have been received other than those related to evacuation.

Evacuation options are being assessed, including a possible land route via Saudi Arabia, subject to obtaining a visa and the operational status of the border, as well as a potential air route via Dubai, possible only if the airspace reopens.

At this stage, the Embassy does not recommend evacuation by land or via other alternative routes. Citizens are advised to strictly follow the instructions issued by local authorities, shelter at their accommodation or another safe location, and avoid non-essential travel. The diplomatic mission is continuously monitoring developments and maintains direct contact with the citizens concerned.

United Arab Emirates

A total of 96 evacuation requests have been registered from citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the United Arab Emirates. The diplomatic mission has also received 104 calls to the emergency phone line and processed 72 emails, to which individual responses were provided depending on each case.

Currently, three requests for consular assistance are being addressed: two concern clarification and coverage of accommodation costs in the context of flight suspensions, and one concerns facilitating transit for Moldovan citizens on the route Manila-Dubai-Chișinău.

The diplomatic mission maintains permanent contact with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates, airlines and other relevant partners. Efforts are underway to identify alternative travel routes, facilitate transit, and clarify the applicable mechanism regarding compensation of accommodation expenses for affected citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also receiving reports from citizens of the Republic of Moldova located in other countries-such as the Philippines, the Maldives, Tanzania or Sri Lanka-who face flight cancellations or rescheduling and transit difficulties.

In such situations, citizens are advised to remain in contact with travel agencies and airlines to identify available solutions and to report any difficulties to: [email protected], for case assessment and the provision of the necessary consular support.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is making every effort to identify safe and viable solutions for citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the region and remains in permanent contact with the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions.

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the affected areas are requested to strictly follow the instructions of local authorities, avoid non-essential travel, and maintain regular contact with the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions.
