American Beverage Announces New $300K Investment in Arizona Recycling with First Project Officially Opening in Kingman

KINGMAN, Ariz. - America's beverage companies announced a new $300,000 statewide investment to improve access to recycling in Arizona today with the opening of a new recycling facility in Kingman. The new funding from American Beverage is part of a partnership with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and The Recycling Partnership with a focus on recycling in rural areas across the state.

The Kingman Recycling Center, which is the first project to launch with the new funding, will open today and provide more than 33,000 residents in Mohave County with a convenient location to recycle bottles, cans and other common household materials.

"This statewide investment starts in Kingman, where residents now have a dedicated place to recycle their 100% recyclable bottles and cans, helping ensure these valuable materials are collected and remade into new products as they were intended," said Michael Gardner of the Arizona Beverage Association. "By working closely with Arizona DEQ and local leaders, we are strengthening recycling systems and expanding access for communities across the state."

The Kingman project is the first initiative funded through the new $300,000 statewide collaboration between the beverage industry and DEQ. DEQ will subaward funds and provide technical assistance to help launch recycling projects in four to six additional rural communities that currently lack access to recycling, particularly in regions near national and state parks and tribal nations.

Over the next decade, the Arizona DEQ rural recycling program is projected to divert more than 11.24 million pounds of recyclables from landfills, including an estimated 436,800 pounds of PET plastic and 145,600 pounds of aluminum - materials that can be remade into new beverage containers.

This project funding announcement comes on the heels of another recent investment American Beverage companies made in Sahuarita, Arizona. These investments are the latest in a series the companies have made through Every Bottle Back-an initiative of The Coca-Cola Company, Keurig Dr Pepper and PepsiCo-that launched in 2019. In total, investments across 66 communities have been made to date to yield nearly 726 million new pounds of recycled PET and more than 46 million pounds of recycled aluminum over the next decade.
