Subject to 38.05.020, The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Southeast Regional Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities - Southcoast Region

PROJECT NAME: ADL 106490

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:
The Skagway Airport is generally located on the Northwest side of the town of Skagway and borders the Skagway River.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
Within Sections 11 and 12, Township 028 South, Range 059 East,
Copper River Meridian, containing approximately 48.43 acres.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY:
On March 3rd, 2025, the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities Southcoast Region (DOT&PF) renewed their request for an Interagency Land Management Assignment (ILMA) for improvements made to the Skagway Airport. An application was submitted on May 13th, 1998, to improve and expand the Skagway Airport by adding a parallel taxiway, new apron, terminal building, parking, flood control dike, and relocating the footbridge. Early entry authorization was granted March 15th, 1999; however, the ILMA authorization process was not completed. Work on this project has been completed and functioning as a service to the residents of Skagway and visitors to the area. DNR is now working to adjudicate this ILMA to get the existing infrastructure into compliance. No new developments are being proposed.
