Provincial officials led by Board Members Araceli Somosa and Laurence Marxlen Dela Cruz led the official launching of the Provincial First 1,000 Days Nutrition Program held this morning at the Capitol Social Hall, highlighting the PGNO's commitment to improved nutrition and overall well-being of mothers and children during the critical first 1,000 days of life.
The Provincial Health Office led the activity, which was attended by representatives from various provincial government offices, health and nutrition workers, local government units, and other stakeholders.
The First 1,000 Days-from conception until a child reaches two years old-is recognized as a crucial window for ensuring proper nutrition, growth, and development. Investments during this period can help prevent malnutrition and support children in reaching their full physical and cognitive potential.
Provincial Health Officer and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Dr. Ma. Ayessa Hugnatan presented an overview of the Provincial First 1,000 Days Nutrition Program, outlining its objectives and key interventions to address maternal and child nutrition.
The attendees also signed the Commitment Board, symbolizing their collective pledge to support and strengthen the Provincial First 1,000 Days Nutrition Program through strong leadership, collaboration, and shared action, and to advance nutrition interventions for mothers and young children across the province.
The Provincial Government, through its nutrition and health programs, aims to strengthen coordinated and sustained efforts to ensure that pregnant women, mothers, infants, and young children receive appropriate nutrition services, care, and support.*
