Student Scholarship Opportunity

The deadline for applications and required documents is April 12, 2025.

Eligibility for High School student submissions:

  • Be at the twelfth (12) grade level in private, public or home-schooled education.
  • Have a parent or legal guardian who is signed up for trash and recycling services with the City of Lakeway (must be in good financial standing).
  • Plans to attend a university, college, junior college, technical, or trade school to obtain an undergraduate level degree or trade certification.
  • Must submit an application and required document(s) by the posted deadline (April 12, 2025).

Judging Process

Applications and essays are evaluated based on a fair unbiased judging process. Judges are individually selected by the City of Lakeway. To ensure anonymity of participants and a transparent scoring process, judges will not see personal information from the application or essay. Applicants' names are unknown to judges until after the results are finalized.

Awards

All applicants will be notified of award status by email. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the school where the awarded student will attend. Scholarship funds must be used within one year of the award date. City of Lakeway has the right to extend the timeline of use when deemed appropriate.

2023 Scholarship Award Ceremony
The City of Lakeway and Waste Connections were proud to present a $1,000 scholarship to Briannah Noak for her efforts to promote recycling and re-use clothing, and her academic excellence. Mayor Tom Kilgore, Mayor Pro Tem, Gretchen Vance, and Richard Tow, Waste Connections District Manager, presented at the Lake Travis High School awards ceremony.
