ISBA response to DOGE Task Force draft report

The draft report from the Iowa Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Task Force included a reference to permitting the sale of title insurance in Iowa. ISBA President Kathy Law submitted this letter on behalf of the Association's 6,500 members, reaffirming the ISBA's strong opposition.

President Law emphasized that Iowa's abstract-attorney opinion system and the Iowa Title Guaranty program provide the best land titles in the nation, protect consumers, and reinvest millions back into Iowa communities. Allowing title insurance would undermine this system, increase costs for consumers, and expand government regulation.

The ISBA will continue monitoring this issue closely and keep members informed. However, if you have a relationship with anyone on the Doge Task Force, we encourage you to contact them now and express how bad title insurance is for the citizens of Iowa.
