Yaw, Flick Announce Over $1.2 Million for Lycoming County Projects

HARRISBURG - State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Jamie Flick (R-83) today announced $1,223,150 in state funding has been awarded to two water and sewer upgrade projects in Montgomery Borough, Lycoming County. The awards were considered at today's Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) meeting and approved through the Authority's Local Share Account (LSA) statewide program.

"Water and sewer infrastructure are vital to protecting public health and ensuring reliable service," Yaw said. "Local governments often operate with tight budgets and are working with aging systems that are long overdue for upgrades. These investments will make a real difference and I'm thankful to Rep. Flick for working with me to secure this funding."

"Protecting health and safety is a priority," Flick said. "Investing in a water system that has deteriorated over the decades means the Borough will continue to provide safe water to residents, enhance fire flow throughout the corridor and extend the service life of the distribution network by an estimated 75 years. I extend my gratitude to Sen. Yaw for his partnership in addressing the wellbeing of residents in the 83rd District."

Montgomery Water Authority was awarded $946,300 for the second phase of the Borough's water main replacement project along Wagner Avenue and Broad Street. This phase will include the replacement of primary water lines to ensure sufficient fire flow and the installation of PVC pipe to connect to the main line installed in Phase I.

"This funding is crucial to address safety in our borough, supplying water pressure and adequate water for fire protection," said Donna J. Miller, Montgomery Borough water coordinator. "It will also upgrade a very old system and replace lead pipes. With Phase I of the project having just gone out to bid, we'll be able to roll right into Phase II to complete the project. I want to thank Rep. Flick and Sen. Yaw because without their advocacy, we'd have to go without this upgrade. It means so much to the citizens of Montgomery."

West Branch Regional Authority was also awarded $276,850 for its sewer replacement project along Wagner Avenue between 5th Street to 3rd Street. This project will replace damaged sewer main and manholes and include trench and law restoration and a new sidewalk.

Local Share Account funds are generated by the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 71 of 2004), which provides for distributing gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within Pennsylvania.
