Marquette University mourns the loss of Thomas MacKinnon

Marquette University mourns the loss of Thomas MacKinnon, former chief of staff to the president and as interim vice president for university advancement, who died on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the age of 51.

During his time at Marquette, Tom contributed to the development and early implementation of the university's seven-year strategic plan. He was also involved in efforts to refine processes related to the university's nearly $400 million annual operating budget. In addition, Marquette began the planning phase of its next capital campaign during his tenure.

Tom also spent time as vice president for CCS, a strategic fundraising consulting firm, and director of alumni and public relations at his alma mater Canisius High School in Buffalo, New York.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Center for Working Families in Quito, Ecuador.
