ICANN Makes Minor Revisions to the 2026 Round Applicant Guidebook

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has made minor revisions to the New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) Program: 2026 Round Applicant Guidebook (AGB), which can be found on the AGB homepage. These minor revisions are based on ICANN's review of the AGB since its initial publication on 16 December 2025.

These minor changes include:

  • Grammatical and typographical changes.
  • Correction of various terms throughout the AGB to ensure consistency.
  • Inclusion of the fee for Community Priority Evaluation (announced on 18 March 2026).
  • Inclusion of the link to the 2026 Base Registry Agreement (adopted on 12 March 2026).

The full list of changes, including the rationale for all changes, can be found in the change log.

The Subsequent Procedures Policy Development Process Working Group foresaw that changes to the New gTLD Program might be required and recommended the establishment of a Predictability Framework, which has been incorporated into the AGB (see Appendix 6). Under the framework, ICANN is required to notify the Standing Predictability Implementation Review Team (SPIRT) of any changes to the program and consult with the SPIRT on any changes that may be deemed non-minor. All changes made to the version of the AGB published today were classified as minor per the framework, and the SPIRT has been made aware of these changes.

More information regarding the New gTLD Program and the AGB can be found on the New gTLD Program website.
