Pueblo Police Make Swift Arrest in Armed Robbery
Pueblo, CO― On July 31, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Pueblo Police officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of South Prairie Avenue following a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male suspect had entered the credit union and approached a teller. The suspect placed a manila envelope on the counter and instructed the teller to "fill it up," warning her not to press any buttons or take any actions that could escalate the situation. The teller complied, filling the envelope with cash, after which the suspect exited the credit union and fled in a white over black Buick Century. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
At 3:38 p.m., while patrolling near the 5800 block of North Elizabeth Street, officers witnessed the suspect vehicle traveling northbound. With assistance from the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) utilizing license plate readers, officers maintained visual contact until additional patrol units arrived.
The suspect stopped at Drew Dix Parkway and exited his vehicle. Although he initially complied with their commands, he then attempted to flee. An officer successfully apprehended the suspect, identified as J.E. Wroten, 45, and he was arrested without further incident. Wroten's vehicle was towed pending a search warrant, and he was booked into the Pueblo County Jail for Robbery. Wroten remains in custody with a total bond of $15,000.
