Department of Housing Seeks Council Approval for Sale of Six City-Owned Lots

The Department of Housing (DOH) proposed an ordinance to City Council which would authorize it to negotiate and execute a City Lots for Working Families (CL4WF) land sale and redevelopment agreement with Inherentance NFP for six city-owned lots in areas of the 26th Ward.

The agreement would allow for 13 residential units to be constructed across six new homes, four of which would be in Humboldt Park and the remaining two in the West Town neighborhood. These six homes will have long-term affordability restrictions monitored by the Department of Housing through the Chicago Housing Trust (CHT) program. As there are several different lots being sold, one parcel has a value beyond that of the program maximum ($224,000); a program exception request has been submitted based on the long-term affordability restrictions imposed across the entire spectrum of development spaces.
