President Mahama arrives in Jamaica to strengthen ties between Ghana and the Caribbean.

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Kingston, Jamaica, for an official visit to strengthen historic bonds between Ghana and Jamaica, deepen cooperation between Africa and the Caribbean, and advance the global reparations agenda.

The President's aircraft landed at Norman Manley International Airport on Sunday night. He was received by a high-level Jamaican delegation led by Ambassador Sandra Grant Griffiths, Chief of State Protocol at the Office of the Prime Minister; Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade; Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana's Minister for Foreign Affairs; and H.E. Kofi Attor, Ghana's High Commissioner to Jamaica.

Today, Monday, Mahama will hold bilateral talks with Dr the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, and meet with the Governor General, His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen. The President will speak at a Joint Sitting of the Houses of Parliament and take part in a high-level Reparations Dialogue at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.

Mr Mahama is scheduled to return to Accra on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.
