Glow in the Dark Centerline Markings

The City of Raleigh's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department has designated a 1-mile section of the Crabtree Creek Trail, between Kiwanis Park and Atlantic Avenue, as the City's Greenway Innovation Corridor.

This section of the trail is where the City will trial emerging technologies and practices intended to improve trail user experience and safety. A glow-in-the-dark centerline stripe will be applied to the Innovation Corridor in early April.

The intent of this application is to test new glow-in-the-dark pavement marking paints to determine their effectiveness in improving trail user safety in low-light conditions, primarily within one hour of sunset. If the product is successful, it will provide trail users with just enough additional light in the evening hours to complete their trips on the trail. This will be most beneficial during the winter when sunsets are at their earliest.
