The hospital's Cardiac Catheterization Department has successfully performed a record-breaking 10 mitral TEER (Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair) procedures in a single day, setting a new national milestone as confirmed by Abbott Laboratories.

This remarkable accomplishment was made possible through the expertise of our distinguished cardiologists - Dr. Alessandro Golino, Dr. Gino Sedillo and Dr. Eugene Parent - working in collaboration with our dedicated anesthesia team and the highly skilled staff of the Cardiac Cath Lab. What Is TEER?

TEER therapy is a minimally invasive leaflet repair procedure used to treat patients with severe mitral and/or tricuspid regurgitation, conditions in which the heart's valves do not close properly, causing blood to leak backward. Unlike open-heart surgery, TEER does not require chest incisions or stopping the heart. This can result in a shorter recovery, less risk for patients and a faster return to daily activities.* Research shows that patients undergoing TEER are 2.5 times more likely to experience significant improvements in health-related quality of life compared to those receiving other therapies.¹
