A look at our dedication to library advocacy
When ProQuest, Ex Libris and Innovative joined Clarivate, our teams discovered many mutual connections - not least the sense of wonder and discovery we feel when we enter a library. Not surprising since so many of us have roots in libraries. Some of us started our careers there. Others found our academic footing in their quiet corners. And all of us believe in their power to change lives.
Shortly after we came together, we put all that passion for libraries together and built a program for library advocacy - taking elements from our collective heritage. Since then, as the environment for libraries changed and we discovered new opportunities to support, the Clarivate Library and Research Advocacy program has evolved. Clarivate has captured highlights of the program on this page. Read on for a view into what you'll discover.
We're proud to support the American Library Association's Public Supporter Program, standing alongside the largest library association in the world to amplify the voices of library workers and the communities they serve. As ALA President Cindy Hohl put it, "Clarivate is truly demonstrating they are for our libraries."
We also work closely with EveryLibrary, a non-partisan organization that defends libraries at the ballot box and beyond. Since 2023, we've joined forces to provide resources and renewed funding to help libraries thrive in the face of growing challenges. John Chrastka, Executive Director at EveryLibrary, remarked that our "commitment will significantly enhance our ability to advocate for libraries and help them secure the funding necessary to serve their communities effectively."
Through Innovative, we support COSLA-the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies-on national initiatives that strengthen state-level leadership and strategy
Our advocacy isn't just about funding-it's about understanding. That's why we launched the Pulse of the Library, a global survey that captures how libraries are adapting to emerging technologies like AI, shifting community needs and economic pressures. The insights we gather help libraries make informed decisions and advocate for their own futures.
Through the Institute for Scientific Information, we also publish research briefings that explore how academic institutions drive innovation and economic growth-because we believe that when libraries and research thrive, so does society.
Clarivate doesn't just support libraries - we're embedded in the library and research community. From user groups like ELUNA and IUG to customer advisory boards in regions around the world, we show up, we listen and we support.
We're proud members of organizations including the Coalition for Networked Information, NISO, ALIA, STM, and CrossRef. These partnerships help us stay connected to the evolving needs of libraries and academia, and ensure our work is grounded in real-world impact.
Our advocacy is continuously evolving with the needs of libraries and research institutions. You can learn more and stay up to date on this page.
