City Hall Selfie Day returns on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and GMA is challenging Georgia's cities to help us reclaim the top spot for statewide participation!
In 2025, Georgia tied with Alabama for the most City Hall Selfie Day posts in the nation. This year, we're aiming to come out on top-and we need your help to make this happen.
City Hall Selfie Day is an annual celebration of public service that highlights the people and places that make local government work. Local government employees, elected officials, community members, and local government supporters from across the country have participated by sharing selfies in front of their local government buildings.
The event is organized by Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) and is designed to celebrate local government while encouraging civic pride and community engagement.
This year, GMA is adding a little friendly competition to the celebration.
Every participating Georgia city will automatically be entered into the GMA City Hall Selfie Challenge, where we'll recognize standout submissions with surprise superlatives based on the creativity, enthusiasm, and community spirit captured in each photo. We'll keep the recognition categories a surprise, so have fun and let your city's personality shine!
Our goal is simple: increase participation across Georgia and show the rest of the nation why Georgia cities are the best in the nation.
Participating is easy!
Every participating city helps Georgia move one step closer to reclaiming the title for the most City Hall Selfie Day posts nationwide.
Encourage your colleagues, fellow elected officials, and community members to join the fun by sharing information about City Hall Selfie Day before Tuesday, August 11. The more participation we have across Georgia, the stronger our showing will be.
Throughout the day, GMA will be resharing member photos on social media, highlighting participating cities, and celebrating the creativity and pride of local governments across the state. After the event, we'll recognize several participating cities with surprise superlatives based on their submissions.
