BOSTON - A Boston man pleaded guilty on Oct. 21, 2026 in federal court in Boston to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition after being found in possession of a semi-automatic rifle and assorted ammunition.
Elydes Zorrilla, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton scheduled sentencing for Jan. 20, 2026. Zorrilla was indicted by a federal grand jury in May 2026.
On Dec. 30, 2025, the Zorrilla possessed a semi-automatic rifle and assorted ammunition. The defendant possessed this firearm and ammunition in the course of selling the firearm and ammunition to an undercover agent.
Zorrilla is prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition due to his prior state court convictions, including a prior conviction in Boston Municipal Court for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition provides for a sentence of up to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes which govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.
