Observed annually on June 19, the date marks the historic moment in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom, two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth became a recognized federal holiday in 2021. City Hall, located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, will reopen to the public for business on Monday, June 23.
