Reno Adaptive Joins AARP Nevada to Host ‘Walk and Roll with a Doc’ Event at Teglia’s Paradise Park on November 12

The City of Reno's Adaptive Program, in partnership with AARP Nevada, invites community members to participate in their 'Walk and Roll with a Doc' event on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Teglia's Paradise Park. The event starts at 10 a.m. with Dr. Ellia Ciammaichella, an Osteopath and Physiatrist, leading the way.

In addition to the walk, Reno Adaptive will be debuting a new Fun2Go side-by-side adaptive bicycle to its fleet, expanding access and making cycling even more inclusive for riders of all ages and abilities. This new bike is thanks to a 2025 AARP Community Challenge grant and will be available for participants to use.

"We are so excited to expand opportunities for our adaptive community as it's important for people of all abilities to have the chance to get outside and stay active," said Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve. "I'd like to thank AARP for their incredible partnership and for awarding us with the Community Challenge grant, which helps us make a real difference in our community."

On event day, attendees can check in with an AARP volunteer at the Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center parking lot. Participants may choose to walk one or two laps around the park.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own water and wear comfortable shoes. The walking route is accessible for individuals using wheelchairs, strollers, and adaptive bikes. Helmets are required for those riding bicycles.

"Partnerships like this help create communities where everyone can stay active, engaged, and connected," said Tod Story, AARP Nevada State Director. "We value working together to make inclusive opportunities a reality for people of all ages and abilities."

Those planning on attending are encouraged to register in advance by going to the Walk and Roll with a Doc event page or calling 1-877-926-8300. To learn more about the City of Reno's Adaptive Program, please visit the City's Adaptive and Inclusion Programs page.
