Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas Yan Jiarong Visits The Bahamas Red Cross Society

On 25 July 2025, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, visited The Bahamas Red Cross Society, met with the President, Mr. Edison Sumner, and Director General Ms. Alicia Pinder, and toured its headquarters and warehouse.

Yan praised the contributions of The Bahamas Red Cross Society to the Bahamian society and briefed on the development of The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC). She stated that China, upholding the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity, has consistently attached great importance to international humanitarian cooperation. Shortly after Hurricane Dorian in 2019, the Chinese government and RCSC provided The Bahamas with over US$600,000 in cash and material assistance. China has established the China-Caribbean Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Fund and organized online "Disaster Risk Management" seminar to help The Bahamas cope with hurricanes and other disasters. As both China and The Bahamas are Global South countries, China stands ready to work with The Bahamas to promote humanity and dedication and advance peace and development for humanity.

The Bahamian side appreciated China for supporting the Bahamian humanitarian development over the years, expressing readiness to strengthen exchanges and deepen cooperation with China.
