HOUSTON - May 27, 2026 - Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) today launched the Optimized Single-Trip Multi-Zone (OSTMZ®) sand control system that reduces rig time, lowers total cost of ownership for operators, and safely improves well productivity as complexity increases. The system supports efficient completion operations and increases reservoir coverage in complex multizone wells.
Operators that complete multizone wells often manage extended schedules, multiple service-tool trips, and increased operational exposure. The OSTMZ sand control system addresses these challenges and treats multiple zones in a single trip, without deployment-tool repositioning or repeated surface-equipment testing. This design simplifies execution and supports consistent, repeatable outcomes in demanding environments.
Built on more than 20 years and 4000 zones of experience, the OSTMZ sand control system reflects an engineering-led approach that applies field experience to deliver repeatable, high-confidence execution in complex multizone completions. It delivers full frac-pack functionality through a streamlined design, reduces operational complexity and overall project costs, and supports increased reservoir access and connectivity. In a typical three-zone deepwater completion, the system reduces completion time by more than eight days, with savings that increase as zone count rises. This performance helps operators limit exposure and improve capital efficiency in multizone developments.
This innovative system reflects our sustained technology leadership in single-trip multizone sand control solutions. It represents a true step-change in how Halliburton maximizes customer asset value and helps minimize risk and cost.
Maxime Coffin, vice president, Halliburton Completion ToolsThe OSTMZ sand control system advances multizone completion performance and reduces or removes the requirement for conventional sand-control service tools. The compact design delivers true frac-pack capability with minimal spacing between perforations, which improves access to reserves, simplifies surface activity, and limits personnel exposure on the rig.
