The City of South Perth invites community members to join its annual winter tree planting event at Elderfield Wetlands, Salter Point on Sunday, 27 July 2025 - held in celebration of National Tree Day, Australia's largest community-led tree planting initiative.
This year, we're aiming to plant over 10,000 native seedlings, including sedges and rushes, to enhance the ecological health of this vital wetland. These plants play a key role in improving water quality and supporting local biodiversity - including the 74 species of birds that call Elderfield Wetlands home.
Whether you're a local resident, a keen conservationist, or just looking for a fun and rewarding day out, we encourage you to bring your family, friends or colleagues and help make a difference.
What's provided: gloves, tools, and a free sausage sizzle and light refreshments
What to bring: hat, water bottle, and closed-in shoes.
