Indiantown GAP National Cemetery to Host Echo Taps

Families, the public and the media are invited to participate in the annual Echo Taps ceremony scheduled to take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA on May 17, 2025. This is part of the nation's observance of Armed Forces Day. The ceremony is sponsored by the Pennsylvania chapter of the non-profit organization, Bugles Across America (BAA).

The ceremony starts at 11 a.m. in front of the cemetery's administration building with a traditional three-volley rifle salute by the Vet 21 Salute Honor Guard of Lancaster, PA. The sequential sounding of Taps throughout the cemetery grounds will immediately follow. This responsive playing of Taps is known as Echo Taps. It will be performed by a corps of buglers from across the region.

The buglers will also perform a musical tribute at the cemetery's Pennsylvania Veterans' Memorial following the sounding of Echo Taps. The program will include each of the military service branch songs. Family members and friends will be invited to sign a memorial book, dedicating the playing of Echo Taps to loved ones interred at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

BAA (www.buglesaccrossamerica.org) is a non-profit organization of volunteer buglers who sound Taps live as part of military funeral honors for U.S. military Veterans. Echo Taps was originated by Howard T. Reitenbaugh of Huntington, PA and former BAA Pennsylvania and National Director.
